MELVIN JAMES ‘JIM’ JESSE November 4, 1935 ~ June 1, 2024
Mr. Melvin James ‘Jim’ Jesse, beloved husband of the late Mona Jesse, passed away peacefully in Medicine Hat on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the age of 88 years. Jim leaves to cherish his memory four children, Charlene Jesse (Cynthia Perez), Cheryl (David) Coward, Rani (Rob) Wiedemann and Christopher Jesse (On-Uma Teerawatphothong). He is also survived by five grandchildren, Justin (Nanae) Coward, Aaron Coward, Emely (Taliesin) Cook as well as Nate and Finn Wiedemann; two great-grandchildren, Yuna and Hendrix and five nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Martha; step-father, William Renner as well as his brother, Earl (Hilda). Jim was born in Medicine Hat and attended Elm Street School through his early years. He finished the majority of his schooling in Medicine Hat before attending the University of Calgary to become a teacher. Jim was exceptional at connecting with his students and relished in each opportunity to mentor a young mind. He started teaching in Calgary, but a year or two later, he moved back to Medicine Hat where the majority of his career was spent teaching Art at Medicine Hat High School, something he was incredibly passionate about. He retired at 72 years of age, providing more time for him to enjoy gardening, pigeons and traveling with Mona. Jim raised racing homer and fancy pigeons, competing in numerous events and winning many trophies and awards along the way. A Private funeral and burial will take place in the coming week.
