JONES, Marion

MARION JEAN JONES 1949 – 2024 Marion Jean Jones was born on April 17, 1949, in Vulcan, Alberta to Ellwood and Dorothy (Levers) Myers. Growing up in Vulcan, Alberta, she met her future husband Wendel Jones during a high school dance. The two struck up a conversation and continued to see each other after high school was done. After her graduation, Marion moved to Calgary to attend legal secretary school and was soon working for a law firm in Calgary.
During this time, Wendel and Marion got married on July 12, 1968, in her hometown of Vulcan, Alberta. The two of them were only 19 years old at the time.
Three years later in 1971, Marion and Wendel had their first son Bradley Lloyd. Jeffrey Scott, their second child came three years later, followed two years later by the birth of their daughter, Heather Jean. Marion embraced her new role of homemaker, perfecting her skills as an amazing cook for the Jones family. In addition to doing all the cooking, Marion sewed all the clothes her children wore and kept an immaculately clean home.
Her small family continued to live in Calgary until 1978 when Wendel transferred in AGT to the Lethbridge office. Marion embraced the change to a smaller city and provided a loving home for Wendel and her three children. Lethbridge was a welcome change that she has called home since then.
Marion loved to read, sew, cook, crochet, play bingo, and watch British murder mysteries. She loved her family and looked forward to playing bingo with her daughter Heather and daughter in-law Lee Jones weekly. Marion always spoke her mind and didn’t leave anyone guessing what she was thinking, welcomely honest to a fault. Seemingly having a hard shell, her softness and caring had no limits.
Suffering from lifelong health concerns, Marion always was optimistic in her faith and love of God and was often heard saying, “The question shouldn’t be Why me, but rather, Why not me?”. Her strong will and spirit continued even during her recent treatments where she was an inspiration to all of us.
Above all else, Marion cherished her husband of 56 years, Wendel. She will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to be loved by her.
She was predeceased by her father Ellwood Myers, her mother Dorothy Myers (Levers), her brother Lloyd Myers, and her brother Stuart Myers. She is survived by her husband Wendel Jones, her sons Brad Jones (Lee), Jeff Jones, her daughter Heather Challenger, grandchildren Scarlett Jones, Andrew Jones, Jacob Challenger, Sam Challenger, Em Hunt and Ethan Hunt.
Marion will be privately remembered by her family. The family thanks Martin Brother’s Funeral Chapel for their kindness, care and compassion.
