Donald Douglas “Don” Wessner, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, peacefully passed away on June 27, 2024, in Medicine Hat, AB. He was born on April 14, 1941, in Hodgeville, SK, to Emil and Leona Wessner. Don was a man of unwavering love and kindness, whose warm smile and gentle nature touched the lives of all who knew him. He embraced life with a passion for the outdoors, finding peace and joy in boating, camping, and observing birds and animals in their natural habitats. Don also found solace in woodworking, creating pieces that reflected his creativity and craftsmanship. On September 19, 1964, Don married the love of his life, Fay Stock, and together they shared 59 years of unconditional love, support, and devotion. Their union was blessed with two children, Travis (Shauna) and Tyrone, who were the pride and joy of Don’s life. He cherished his role as a father, guiding and nurturing his children with patience and wisdom. Don’s grandchildren, Lucas, Kenna, Emily, and Ben, held a special place in his heart, bringing him immeasurable love and joy. He treasured every moment spent with them, creating lasting memories that will be cherished forever. In addition to his immediate family, Don is survived by his brother, Ralph (Vivian) Wessner as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Leona Wessner, daughter-in-law, Monika Wessner; his sister, JoAnn (Helmer) Schwartz; and Fay’s parents, Adolph (Violet) Stock. A man of integrity and compassion, Don will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family and his ability to spread love and kindness. His legacy of warmth and generosity will continue to inspire all who knew him. A memorial service in honor of Don’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, AB.
