Joanne was born on March 14, 1943 in Taber, Alberta to Harry and Patricia Brooks. She met Ken in Lethbridge and they were married on March 30th, 1968. Together they moved to the Ross Ranch near Aden and shortly afterwards, they relocated to Deer Creek Livestock east of Milk River where their two sons Greg and Billy were born. In 1976, they bought a place of their own outside of Coutts, near the Sweet Grass hills and farmed until 1989 when they sold and moved to Coutts. While raising her family and helping on the farm, she began her career at HH Smith as a broker and then Peace Bridge Brokerage where she was the manager. Joanne was pre-deceased by her parents Harry and Patricia Brooks; brother Bill Brooks; sister-in-law Joan; brother Gordon Brooks; sister-in-law Beverly; mother-in-law Luella Nate, and a great niece Caroline Brooks.
Joanne lived a vibrant and active life full of joy and love, she had a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh. Joanne was her happiest surrounded by the people she loved but nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her great-grandchildren.
