LINDERS, Elvera

Posted: July 13th, 2024

LINDERS It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Elvera Linders, on March 21, 2024, at the age of 93. She will be missed immensely by her daughters, son-in-law, granddaughters, sister and many friends and family.
Vera was born in Lethbridge in 1930, the second youngest of 6 sisters. She lost her mother at the age of 7 and was raised by her father and two oldest sisters. Vera graduated from Holy Cross Hospital School of Nursing in 1951 and worked as a RN in Powell River, Vancouver, and Hawaii before returning to St. Michael’s Hospital in Lethbridge. In her career she worked maternity, operating room, and was the Head Nurse of the recovery room for 29 years. In retirement, Vera continued to care for others, providing support to family and friends, and volunteering with the soup kitchen and Meals on Wheels. She loved spending time with her sisters and their families, and adored her nieces, nephews and their children. She never missed a chance to spoil her three grandchildren, who held a special place in her heart, and she in theirs.
Vera was famous for her soup, sticky buns and apple pie, and no family gathering was complete without Aunty Vera’s ‘pagochi’. She was an avid Blue Jays fan and kept up with all the players and their stats. Vera was thankful for the love and support of many good friends. She always looked forward to visits with the ‘Happy Hour Girls’ and was grateful for her neighbors, whose assistance allowed her to stay in her home into her 90’s. Vera also greatly appreciated her family that cared for her in the last years of her life.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on July 22, 2024, at Our Lady of Assumption Church, 2405 – 12 Ave. South, Lethbridge, AB.

One Condolence for “LINDERS, Elvera”

  1. Ruth Lamond says:

Please accept my condolences. Lindy was head nurse in the Recovery Room when I was a student nurse and later when I joined the OR team at St.Michaels hospital. I admired her….such an excellent nurse, a teacher, a mentor. There was always laughter, work was fun and easy.
    So sorry for your loss,
Ruth Lamond (class of 1970 St. Michael’s School of Nursing)
