HENRY JOHN ZANDBERG 1943 – 2024 Henry John Zandberg of Picture Butte, beloved husband of Tally, passed away peacefully at Chinook Regional Hospital, on August 30, at the age of 81 years.
Henry Zandberg was born during WWII to Frank and Jane Zandberg in Friesland, the Netherlands, 9th child of 11.
In November 1952 the family arrived in Telkwa, BC. Henry’s first “paying” job was for Dick Kronemeyer in the bush. At 16 he went to work for PIR, the local sawmill in Telkwa. He worked for PIR for over 30 years before retiring due to an aneurysm.
Henry married Tally Schuurman July 1, 1978, and settled on a hobby farm on the banks of the Bulkey River in Smithers, British Columbia. There they raised their four sons and two daughters.
Henry enjoyed the outdoors and farming, but most importantly he loved his Lord and Saviour and taught his children to walk in His ways.
In 2018, after the last of Henry’s surgeries Henry and Tally moved to Picture Butte, Alberta to be nearer to their children and medical care he needed. Henry endured times of hardship but throughout his life he testified to the faithfulness of God and remained firm in the God of his salvation.
