GOLBECK, Samuel “Sam”
Posted: September 7th, 2024Samuel “Sam” David Golbeck 1984 – 2024. Sam passed away in Courtenay B.C., on Saturday May 11, 2024, at the age of 39 years.
Sam was born in Maple Ridge, British Columbia to Ron (Joan) Golbeck, and Donna (Doug, deceased) Gibbon Clark. He was the youngest of seven children, raised in the lower mainland of B.C., moving to Lethbridge, for most of his high school years, and returning to B.C., residing in Ymir and Nelson, before moving to Vancouver Island a few years ago. Sam loved wrestling, and spending time with his siblings’ children. He was a talented origami artist. He enjoyed the time he spent with his brother Daniel and sister, Naomi, playing Nintendo. Sam was a kind, compassionate and giving person. He was patient and attentive to the babies and small children in the family and with everyone. He had an innate compassion for other people and concern for their well-being. He loved being an uncle. He had this special relationship with his mum, and was always her baby. There was never a time that Sam wasn’t utmost in mum’s thoughts and he was very connected to her. Sam showed true friendship, and love for everyone whenever he could, despite his challenges. He struggled with mental health and addiction issues, along with physical and emotional trauma that impacted his life in many ways, but could still show a smile for those he came in contact with. We loved him so much and miss him deeply.
Sam is survived by his parents, Ron and Donna, along with his siblings: Mary (Kim) and their children Sinéad (Fay), Regan (Cherice), Ash, Ace, Quillan and Siobhán; Kathy (François) and their children Sol, and Ollie; Rob (Jen) and their son Nate; Aaron, and his children Llewyn and Ida, Daniel (Anna), and Naomi (Luc) and their daughter Kaiya.
Sam will always be in our hearts and minds.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday September 14, 2024, at 2:00 pm, in the Relief Society Room 2410 28 ST S, Lethbridge (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints Stake Centre). Everyone who knew and cared for Sam is welcome to join. There will be a remote link for anyone who wants to join virtually. Please email kmsiever@gmail.com for the link or if you have any questions.

Dearest Mary, Kim, and Family,
My heart hurts for you as you mourn the loss of your brother and uncle. You all are in our prayers. I especially pray that our dear Heavenly Father holds you in His loving arms of comfort. May you still find joy in the memories of the good times you shared with your brother and uncle. Always remember that you don’t have to walk through this alone.

I met Sam through a friend of ours as well as working at Nelson Cares Hub . He had a big heart and loved to make people laugh. My deepest condolences to Family and Friends.
Hello Everyone, I need everyone here to know this, I was Sam’s fiance. Sam and I were together almost 2 years when he passed away and we had just recently decided to get married 2 weeks before he passed. I am devastated. I have no one left on this earth to turn to because Sam was my everything. I’ve never been in so much pain. He was the love of my life. I’m not sure if I can handle this. Sam moved to Courtenay to find me. I just need his family to know that WE FOUGHT SO HARD to be together. I just pray that God will reunite me with my sweet husband when I cross over. Please keep me in your prayers. I’m a 31 yo window now.
