Dianne Lynn Lundquist passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the age of 73 years. Along with Curt, her loving husband of 51 years, Dianne’s memory will be cherished by her son, Mark (Carrie); granddaughters, Michaela, Rayleen and Jorja; brother, Don (Carol) Pennycook and her sister, Lorraine (Len) Olson. She is also survived by Curt’s family, sister, Elsie Lundquist; brothers, Leonard Lundquist and Dale (Joan) Lundquist; cousin, Thomas Walker of Berlin as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Edna Pennycook; in-laws, Werner and Isabelle Lundquist; brothers-in-law, Ed and Joe Lundquist; sister-in-law, Joyce Lundquist; uncle and aunt, Stan and Anne Walker as well as her cousin, Jim Bob Walker.
Dianne was born in Medicine Hat on June 10, 1951, and was raised in Ralston until 1964, when her parents moved the family to Medicine Hat. Dianne attended CHHS from grades 7 to 12, and after graduation, Dianne attended Lethbridge College where she took the Registered Nursing program. She worked at the Brooks Hospital when she was set up on a blind date with Curt. After a brief courtship, Curt and Dianne were married on September 22, 1973, and in 1974, they moved to Medicine Hat. Dianne worked at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital for 25 years. She worked in labour and delivery, maternity and was instrumental in setting up the endoscopy unit where she worked until she retired. Dianne and Curt owned and operated Hops & Scotch Liquor Store for 20 years before selling it and really retiring! She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all those who knew and loved her. The family would like to thank the nurses, staff and doctors on 4West of the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital for their amazing care and compassion they provided to Dianne during her stay.
A Celebration of Dianne’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Murray Jaster officiating. Dianne’s service will be live-streamed.
