IDA WIDMER
Ida Widmer went home peacefully to be with her Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at the age of 93 years, beloved wife of the late Benjamin Widmer. She is survived by her loving children, Richard Widmer of Rocky Mountain House, Craig (Cathryn) Widmer of Seven Persons and Linda (Ernest) Mudie of Elkwater; seven grandchildren, Candace (Anthony), Blake (Morgan), Lisa (Shane), Ashley, Tyrel, Michael and Chrystina, and four great grandchildren, Lily, Jace, Bennett and Austin. She is also survived by three brothers-in-law Art (Joyce) Widmer, Al (Doreen) Widmer, Henry Ziegenhagel and three sisters-in-law, Doreen Telford, Madeline Widmer and Violet Thunberg. Ida was predeceased by her parents Jacob and Christina Ehman, all her siblings and their spouses; Bertha (Bill) Wagner, Alma (Emil) Hausauer, Clara (Percy) Stephens, Ruby (Emanuel) Stickel and Alfred (Emily) Ehman, her in-laws Alfred and Franzisca Widmer; three sisters-in-law Anne (Ed) Stahl, Esther Ziegenhagel, Joan Widmer and four brothers-in-law Victor Widmer, Paul Widmer, Bill Widmer and Winston Hewitt.
Ida was born on July 17, 1931, and grew up on a farm in the Wisdom area. On October 20, 1951, she married the love of her life, Benjamin Widmer in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Following their marriage, they lived on a ranch near Maple Creek, eventually moving to the home place south of Seven Persons where they farmed for 40 years before retiring to Medicine Hat. Mom was first and foremost a homemaker who was dedicated to her family and raising her children. She had a love for gardening which provided for our family, a love for quilting, sewing, knitting and crocheting, again which all kept us clothed and warm. After they retired to town, mom became an avid bowler and loved her weekly outings to the bowling alley. She was also a volunteer at The Post for many years. After Dad passed, Mom sold her house and bought a condo at Norwood Grande where she lived until her passing. Her family was very special to her and she will be greatly missed by all.

Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Thursday October 31 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend officiating.
