PETERS, JOHN

PETERS, JOHN John Peters, age 93 years, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024, in Regina, SK.
He was preceded in death by his parents Peter Peters and Agatha Peters. John is survived by his children Wendy and Kelly; sisters Margaret and Susan; as well as several cousins and other family.
John was born on a farm near Osler, SK to Peter Peters and Agatha Peters on March 26, 1931. When he was quite young the family moved to a farm in the Lost River area near Nipawin, SK, and that’s where many of John’s most formative memories were made. When John was old enough, he left the farm and worked various jobs for a few years before getting a job with the Serve-U grocery store in Nipawin, and then the Safeway grocery store chain in Saskatoon, where he worked at both the retail and wholesale levels until retirement. It was after relocating to Saskatoon that John met “the love of his life, his beautiful wife” Mary. John worked tirelessly to ensure that Mary and his two children were always well taken care of, but also took the time to enjoy his family. In the early 1990s John and Mary retired to Medicine Hat, AB where they thrived with a close circle of friends and a welcoming church. In 2014 they relocated to Regina to be closer to family.
John always said, “life is what you make it”, and from humble beginnings he was able to create a very successful life with his wife Mary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to College Park 2 Retirement Residence staff for the care they afforded John over the last 10+ years.
Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK, on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Tim Friesen officiating. The service will be live streamed. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Saskatoon on Monday, November 18, 2024.
