MAXINE AUSMUS 1940 ~ 2024

It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Maxine Gladys Ausmus of Medicine Hat.  She passed away peacefully on Monday, December 16, 2024, at the age of 84 years.
Maxine leaves to cherish her memory:  two sons, Larry (Rita) and Randy (Marion);  one daughter, Pam (Derwin) Ristau; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; Larry’s children: Clint (Nicole) – Brody, Shelby; Bradley (Megan) – Quinn, Ashlyn, Kaden; Douglas (Michelle) – Everlee, Emmett; Darcy (Ivy) – Jace, Cooper, Karlee.  Randy’s children: Zane (Deandra) – Gabriel; Brandt.  Pam’s children – DeeJay (Iza) – Corbin, Sterling; Nathan (Dana) – Jacob.
Maxine is also survived by her sister, Doreen (Arden) Mack and brother, Mervin (Elaine) Ginther; sister-in-law, Evelyn Ausmus and numerous nieces and nephews.
Maxine was predeceased by her devoted husband, Arthur on September 11, 2023, after 66 years of marriage; parents John & Martha Ginther; parents-in-law Gustav & Justina Ausmus; sisters-in-law:  Hertha (Fred) Mertin, Ida (Sam) Holstein, Linda (Anton) Brehm; and brothers-in-law:  Herbert (Adela) Ausmus and Reinhold Ausmus.
Maxine was born on May 23, 1940, in Kindersley, SK, and grew up on the family farm near Mendham, SK.  In 1957, she married her one true love, Arthur Ausmus.  Together they worked side by side raising their family and running their mixed farming operation.  In 1995, they retired to Park Meadow Estates in Medicine Hat where they became actively involved in the community making new lifelong friends.  It was here that Maxine showcased her love for flowers and spearheaded the garden club for many years.
Maxine and Art spent many winters in Palm Springs where they enjoyed an ever-growing circle of friends. Maxine loved to visit and was always a gracious host.  In December 2022, Maxine and Art moved to Meadowlands Retirement Home where they resided until their passing.
Maxine was a gracious woman filled with love and integrity, a woman of faith who loved and trusted God beyond measure. She was a devoted wife who worked alongside Art to build their farm and home.  She was a loving mother teaching her children the importance of faith and family; taking pride in what they do.  She was incredibly proud of her grandsons and great-grandchildren and always took an interest in their lives, loving to play cards and board games on any occasion. Maxine displayed extreme patience, had a kind heart and a gentle touch. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Celebration of Maxine’s life will be held at Victory Lutheran Church, 2793 Southview Drive S.E., Medicine Hat on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 1:00 p.m.  Private Interment will take place prior to the church service.  Maxine’s celebration will be live streamed and it may be viewed on-line by visiting victorylutheran.ca/livestream  As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in Maxine’s memory to St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice or a charity of your choice.
