WEVER, Minety
Posted: January 4th, 2025 MINETY HENRIETTA WEVER 1941 – 2024 Mrs. Minety Henrietta Wever, beloved wife of the late Mr. Klaas “Nick” Wever, passed away at Chinook Regional Hospital on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at the age of 83 years.
Minety was born in the Galt Hospital in Lethbridge, the oldest child and only daughter born to Cornelius and Johanna Withage. She grew up on the family farm near Monarch and received her formal education in Monarch and Nobleford schools. After leaving school at an early age, she “learned the ropes” on the farm and was soon proficient at operating many farm implements and tending to various livestock. She also assisted various families who required help in their homes as their families grew.
After several years, she met the love of her life, Nick Wever, and they were married on October 20,1961, in Nobleford CRC, during a fierce fall storm that left them stranded on their wedding night. They started married life in a small house in Raymond. There, Minety assisted in all aspects of farm labor, and they started their family, with two sons being born.
When her parents retired, they had the opportunity to return to the family farm. Together, they grew the farm and their family, adding 5 more sons and finally, a daughter. Minety loved farm life, she worked hard on the farm and in the home. In 1971, they built their own home on the farm, a home where anyone was always welcome, the door was always open, and the table could always hold more. She sold milk and eggs from the house and many neighbours and friends would stop in for a chat. She also always had a huge garden, which was needed to feed her large family. The beans, potatoes and applesauce, among other produce, were always abundant.
In 1992, they moved to West Lethbridge, while the farm remained in the care of several sons. In their retirement, they enjoyed much time with grandkids and yard work as well as many road trips and cruises, often with friends/relatives. In 2013 they moved into The View and in 2021 Minety moved into Balmoral house, where she lived until her passing.
Minety’s passions in life were Jesus, her family, the farm, and all the relationships in her life. She loved to share her faith with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends and neighbours. She knew she was a sinner saved by grace. Near the end of her life, she longed to be with her Saviour and be reunited with her husband. She will be dearly missed but we rejoice that she has been granted her heart’s desire.
Minety is survived by her seven sons Jack (Wilma), Charles (Tammy), Michael, David (Diane), Wayne (Audra), Glen (Sonya), Philip (Linda); daughter Melinda (Jeff) Notenbomer; as well as 30 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Also, her brother, Garry (Anne) Withage and sister-in-law Pauline Withage.
She was predeceased by her parents Cornelius & Johanna Withage; her husband Nick Wever; her brother Henry Withage, and daughter-in-law Janet Wever (Jack).
