Kathrine was born and raised in Lethbridge and enjoyed a life that allowed her to see the world! The family lived in Montreal from 1943-45, assisting with the war effort, after which they returned to Lethbridge. 10 years later Kathrine began nursing training at St. Michael’s in Lethbridge but withdrew upon her marriage to Jack Roberts in 1956. Soon they welcomed their pride and joy, Melissa, in 1960. Following three years living in Ghana while Jack taught school, the family returned to Canada and resided in Victoria. Kathrine fulfilled her dream of obtaining a degree in Education at the University of Victoria, and eventually a master’s degree. Following a few years teaching in Victoria, Kathrine returned to Lethbridge and ultimately had a long and distinguished career teaching Special Education in Lethbridge Public school system.
Following her retirement from teaching, Kathrine parlayed her long-time interest in Antiques and Collectables into a business, opening a shop in Claresholm and then in an historic building in Fort Macleod. She enjoyed her final thirty-two years living in the town she loved, Claresholm.
Kathrine enjoyed writing, in her retirement she wrote Prairie Paintbrush, a children’s literature book, as well as several newspaper articles. She was also an avid reader, an excellent seamstress, swimmer, and a gardener. Kathrine enjoyed cruising, a total of 17 over the years that often-included Melissa and Wally, or many of her friends.
