1931 BILLIE LAWRENCE – 2025
Frances Jean Lawrence, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished best friend, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025, at Meadow Ridge Seniors Village in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Frances, known as “Billie,” was born on March 2, 1931, in Medicine Hat to Frederick and Ida Fandrick, who instilled in her the values of family, love, and community. She married the love of her life, Bryan Joseph Lawrence on February 20, 1950 and together, they built a beautiful life, starting a family and creating a warm, welcoming home filled with laughter and joy. Billie often reminisced about how she met Bryan while enjoying her passion for dancing in her younger years. Their love was a testament to the joy of companionship, and now they will dance together for eternity. Billie was proud of her family and loved them dearly. In her later years, she found immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren, nurturing their dreams, and celebrating their achievements. She was a devoted member of St. Patrick’s Church, where she attended services with joy until her health began to decline. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she often drew strength from the words of her favorite poem, the “Serenity Prayer,” which encapsulated her spirit and resilience.

“God grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change; Courage to change the things I can; and Wisdom to know the difference.”
She was a woman of simple pleasures; she loved her yard and garden, and watching television, especially her cherished “Soaps,” which brought her joy. Her passion for music provided a soundtrack to her life, enriching her days and bringing her peace. A feisty and talkative woman, Billie’s personality lit up every room she entered. As we remember Billie, we acknowledge the exceptional care and love provided by the staff at Meadow Ridge, who treated her with kindness and respect. Their dedication made her final days comfortable, and for that, her family is profoundly grateful. The family requests that you carry forward her spirit of love and kindness in your own lives. Billie taught us to cherish family, embrace joy, and live with compassion. As we say our goodbyes, we hold her memory close to our hearts, knowing she will forever dance among us. Rest in peace, dear Billie. You will be deeply missed, but your legacy of love will live on in all who were fortunate enough to know you. A private graveside service will be held to honour her life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Billie’s memory may be made to the ALS Society of Alberta, 7874 10th Street NE, Calgary, AB T2E 8W1.
