It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather Lucius Stephan Wadsworth – Sikimii. He is survived by his wife Pam, daughter Lydia, sons Billy (Tisha), Myron (Tanya) granddaughters; Kenzie, Keely (Delvin), Ellie, Nyasia and Grandson Rylan (Taylor), Great grandchildren; Ashkii Diyin, Jamila Blayne, Zenayla and Akakkana. Survived by sister Sadie Wadsworth, his brother Roy (Nora) Scout, mother-in-law Mary First Rider, brother in laws Blair (Cathy) and Harvey, sister in laws; Teresa, Evelyn, Joanne, Kathleen, Christine, Lavern, Wanda (Scotty), Carrie (Phillip), Lorraine, and Jennifer. He is also survived by Wadsworth cousins Ann Marie, Max, Winston, Stephen, and Brian. Dad also has several special friends/relatives whom we would like to mention; Mike and Jackie Bromley, John John and AJ Stiffarm, Aloysuis and Marcia Blackwater, Levi Hofer, Gilbert Standing Alone, Josh Mountain Horse, Larry White, all the previous and current Bullhorn Singers and all the past minor and junior hockey players and families.
Dad had numerous special nephews and nieces from the Wadsworths, White Quills, Scouts, and First Riders that he had a special connection to throughout his life as well as many relatives including Tailfeathers, Brave Rocks, Weasel Moccasins and Wolf Legs in addition relatives in Piikani, Siksika, Amska pii Piikani, Fort Belknap, Maskwacis, Eden Valley and Morley.
Dad was a very generous and a hardworking man; he would give whatever he could to help and never refused anyone. Family and relatives were very important, and often made lifelong friends wherever he went.
Dad received his education at St. Paul’s Residential School, Cardston High School, Brigham Young University, and Lethbridge College. He also worked for the Blood Tribe Protection Services while it was housed at Blood Tribe Administration and was instrumental in the planning and operation of the new Protection Services building. Dad also received his Security Training in Calgary graduating with honors, which he later launched the incorporation of Bullhorn Security Services and provided services for BTA for approximately 30 years. Dad also worked for Sik-Ooh-Kotoki Friendship Society/Shelter and then decided to semi-retire while working at St. Paul’s Treatment Centre so he could spend more time on the ranch.
Dad grew up in the Bullhorn area raised by his mother A’poyakii Annie Wadsworth (nee Moon Calf). In the early 70’s he met, and married Pam and they resided in the Bullhorn area and raised their three children. Like many ranchers and farmers, his favorite past time was horseback riding, feeding cows, chopping wood, hunting, team roping at rodeos, breaking horses and being out on the range.
Dad was a very religious and spiritual man; at a young age he was fortunate enough to be raised in the Motokiik’s Lodge with mom A’poyakii often referred to as a Kipataipookaa. In addition, he enjoyed and attended St. Paul’s Anglican Church Services and supported his family’s involvement in the Sundance and Ceremonies. Dad loved listening to the songs at Akoka’tsin and told many stories of his time growing up there. He would often tell the story of grandma and him being the last to break camp. Ceremony was a huge part of Dad’s life, attending Sundance in Browning at Buster Yellow Kidney’s ceremonies for many years.
Dad met many people and had many friends on the powwow trail. Papa was very proud of his children and grandchildren in their interest in powwow dancing and singing and supported them in all ways possible. Dad was the Bullhorn Singers number one fan.
