FIJGJE VAN HERK JUNE 7, 1930 – APRIL 24, 2025 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother Mrs. Fijgje van Herk, of Fort Macleod, Alberta, beloved wife of the late Teunis van Herk, at Eventide Home on Thursday, April 24, 2025.
Fijgje is survived by her children Jeannette (Klaas) de Leeuw, Maria (Cameron) Fabbri, Cornell (Sherry), Tony (Marjo), Jake (Wendy), Francine (Ralph) van Driesten, Matthew (Diana), Willard (Amanda), Elbert (Wendy), Alex (Karen), Fred (Kathleen), Ben (Erica), and David (Jenny).
She is survived by 74 grandchildren, 108 great- grandchildren, her siblings Willem (Teuni), Tony (Margaret), Andy (Nita), and her sisters-in-law Cobi and Anneke Slingerland.
She is predeceased by her husband Teunis, son Joe, granddaughters Alisha, Savannah, and Abigail van Herk; her parents Cornelis and Jannigje Slingerland, sisters Jannie, infant daughter Judith, Judith, and Maria; and her brothers Jaap and Kees Slingerland.
Condolences will be held from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Eden’s Funeral Home, 2424 – 5 Avenue, Fort Macleod.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday, April 28, 2025, at the Reformed Congregation of North American, Monarch, Alberta.
Interment will follow at the Union Cemetery, Fort Macleod.
