LARRY SNYDER 1944 ~ 2025 On June 2, 2025, Larry Richard Snyder affectionally known as “Squid” by many, passed away at the age of 80. Larry was born on September 15, 1944, in High River, Alberta to Chris and Pauline (Befus) Snyder. Larry started a lifelong career with the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1964 in Airdrie, Alberta and worked in various towns and cities throughout Alberta and British Columbia until he retired in 1999 in Calgary, Alberta. On November 29, 1969, he married Gail Debra Lippert the love of his life and they raised two daughters, Jamie and Jodi. Larry had a passion for learning, but his greatest passion was for his family. He leaves them the gift of living by example, proof that anything can be accomplished through commitment, determination and hard work. He spent many summers camping with his wife and daughters and taking awesome pictures to preserve the memories. He spent countless hours with his six grandchildren and his two great grandsons and granddaughter. He was also an avid music lover enjoying many of the old country greats, but his great love was for gospel music. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, his kind and compassionate spirit and his firm belief in God.
He is survived by his wife Gail, his two children Jamie (Todd) Petreman and Jodi Snyder (John Stoll), six grandchildren, Laurence Petreman, Cameron Petreman, Tanner Petreman, Jessica Snyder-Starlight Turcott (Tyghe), Jenny Stoll, Jade Stoll; two great grandson’s, Donovan Turcott, Parker Petreman and great grand daughter Datura Turcott; his sister Sylvia Pinsent, three brothers in-law Randy Lippert, Rodney (Deb) Lippert and Art Knight; two nieces Lorraine Pinsent and Barb Madore; two nephews Wayne Pinsent and Chris Pinsent as well as many cousins and friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Chris, his mother Pauline and two sisters in-law (Sue Knight and Dyana Lippert).
In keeping with Larry’s wishes there will be no formal funeral service. A private family gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.
