BARBARA OLSON
The family of Barbara Olson announces her passing at the SIH, in Maple
Creek, Saskatchewan, with family by her side, at the age of 90 years.

Barbara was born on the family farm south of Assiniboia, Sk.
She finished grade 10 then worked as a nurse’s aide. She married
Howard, June 29, 1956 in a double wedding with Howard’s sister.
Barbara worked on the farm at Robsart, along side Howard cooking
and delivering meals and hauling grain in “Thumper”. Together they
enjoyed traveling, hosting card parties, and visiting neighbors. She will
always be remembered for the love of cooking. Her kitchen was always
open, filled with the aroma of her delicious cooking and the warmth of her
hospitality. You could always count on Barbara to bring the buns, rosettes and
lefsa to Christmas dinner. She had a green thumb and had a huge garden with
beautiful flowerbeds. Barb canned fruit and made the best beet pickles. She kept busy and always kept her house meticulously clean.

Over the years Barbara enjoyed a round of golf, going dancing, bowling and playing bingo. She was happy to win a chocolate bar to sooth her sweet tooth. She loved to bonspiel in the winter and played ball with the Robsart Ladies. Barbara would never turn down an ice cream or a Timmies coffee!

Barbara lived and loved fiercely in her own private way. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Randy (Lisa) Olson; daughter, Shelley (Frank) Olson; grandchildren, Shayla (Jesse) Farough, Spenser (Gabrielle) Olson, Sidney (Janelle) Olson, and Kaitlyn (Michael) Knight; great grandchildren, Malia Farough, Maren Farough, and Heston Olson; her brother Gordon (Madeline) Peterka, sister, Lillian Semenok and brother Ronald Peterka, sister in law Louella Pedersen and families. Barbara was predeceased by her husband Howard; her son Terrance (in infancy); her father, Carl Peterka, her mother, Hermina Peterka; her in-laws Harry and Synneve Olson; her daughter-in-law Sylvia Olson; and one brother Orville Peterka.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the nurses and staff at Southwest Integrated Healthcare Facility for the excellent care that Barbara received. A private family interment will happen at a later date. Donations in memory of Barbara can be made to the “Robsart Cemetery” c/o Donna Johnson Box 59, Robsart, Sk, S0N 2G0.
