DORIS ETHEL SUNDHOLM
Posted: July 8th, 2025 DORIS ETHEL SUNDHOLM
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Doris Ethel Sundholm on June 30, 2025.
Born in Laporte, Saskatchewan on August 14, 1941, Doris was the daughter of Arnold and Emma Nunweiler. She met the love of her life, Ray, while working at the COOP in Laporte. They were married in December 1960 and began their journey together, first in Laporte, then Kindersley, followed by Redcliff, and later settling in Medicine Hat.
Doris was known by all who loved her as a generous and gifted cook and baker. Her kitchen was always open, and her food was her way of showing love. Whether cooking for a handful or hosting a gathering for dozens, Doris gave from the heart and made everyone feel at home. She was famous for her soft baked buns, gooey cinnamon buns, and classic chocolate chip cookies-treats that became cherished staples at family gatherings and with anyone lucky enough to stop by.
Music was something Doris loved deeply. Over the years, she and Ray hosted many lively parties in their home, where the drinks flowed freely, and the music and dancing carried on well into the evening. These gatherings created cherished memories for family and friends alike.
She is lovingly remembered by her children Darrel (Wendy), Karen (Kevin), and Marla, as well as her cherished grandchildren Andreya (Chris), Dylan (Brianna Sweeney), and Nick. Doris was predeceased by her husband Ray, her parents Arnold and Emma, and her brother Willard.
In her later years, Doris bravely battled dementia. Even as her memories faded, she continued to find joy in the simple things-especially her beloved drives and sundaes.
We would like to sincerely thank the staff at Good Sam’s Cottage B for the care they provided to Mom-we know her illness could make her a challenge at times. We are also deeply grateful to the nursing staff and Dr. Barwhani on 5 West, as well as the ER medical team, for the amazing and compassionate care given to Doris in her final two days. Your support meant so much to our family.
Doris’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and friends will be dearly missed.
At Doris’ request, no funeral will be held. A private family graveside service will take place.
