With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Thomas James “Tom” Morrison, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left us peacefully on September 7, 2025, at the age of 94 in his hometown of Medicine Hat, Alberta. Born on June 24, 1931, Tom lived a life rich with love, laughter, and community spirit. Tom was the cherished son of Ralph and Ella Morrison, who instilled in him values of hard work. He grew up in Medicine Hat and built a legacy that his family will forever be proud of. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law William “Slim” Newman, as well as his sister and brother-in-law, Margaret “Peggy” and Lawrence “Larry” Plante. He is survived by his devoted wife, Bernice, with whom he shared a deep and enduring love. Together, they created a warm, nurturing home for their two children, Fred (Cassandra) Morrison and Janice (Murray) Linthicum. Tom took immense pride in his role as a grandfather to Clayton (Lauren Tastad) Linthicum, whose achievements brought him much joy. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Aileen Newman of Kamloops, BC and countless friends and family who held a special place in his heart. Tom was a dedicated accountant, serving as a partner at Johnston Morrison Hunter & Co, where he was known for his professionalism and integrity. His career was a testament to his commitment to excellence and his unwavering dedication to his clients and colleagues. Beyond his professional achievements, Tom was a man of many interests and passions. An avid outdoorsman, he found peace in fishing and hunting and spent countless summers enjoying the beauty of Kootenay and Barriere Lakes with family and friends. A true sports enthusiast, he held a deep-seated loyalty to the St. Louis Cardinals and was a proud season ticket holder of the Medicine Hat Tigers. Tom was a natural storyteller and had a knack for delivering both great and terrible jokes that always brought a smile to those around him. His peaceful demeanor and social nature made him a beloved figure in his community. He was community-minded and dedicated to making a difference, having served as president of the Kinsmen in 1968 – 1969. He was particularly proud to have organized his Alexandra High School reunion, reminiscing about the days when he walked to school from Crescent Heights. His life was filled with moments of joy, love, and laughter, and he will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by everyone who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Ducks Unlimited Canada ( https://ducks.donordrive.com/memorium/donate), an organization close to Tom’s heart. A private family celebration of Tom’s life will be held. As we say goodbye to a wonderful man who touched the lives of so many, we take comfort in the memories he leaves behind and the legacy of love he established within his family and community. Rest in peace, Tom. Your stories, laughter, and spirit will live on in our hearts. Condolences may be sent through www.saamis.com or to condolences@saamis.com subject heading Thomas Morrison.
