Posted: October 15th, 2025 IRMGARD MARGARET LEXVOLD (NEE WAHLERS) 1937 – 2025 We regretfully announce with sadness that on Saturday October 11th, 2025, Irmgard Lexvold went home to be with her Heavenly Father.
Born in Germany during WWII, the daughter of Heinrich and Johanne (Riemann) Wahlers, Irmgard is survived by six children, Timothy, Paul, Stephen, Anthony, Rebekah and Christine: in addition to numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Irmgard was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, her parents, her sister and her two brothers.
Irmgard immigrated to the United States in 1958 to marry Walter Lexvold, a Lutheran Pastor. Together they raised their family of six children and served with several parishes in South America, the USA and Canada. Irmgard also worked in various health care settings. They eventually retired to Medicine Hat where Irmgard delivered the Medicine Hat News for over 20 years.
She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her family and everyone who had the good fortune of knowing her.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel, #1 Dunmore Road SE on Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, and at St. Peter Lutheran Church on Thursday from 10:00 to 10:55.
The Funeral Service will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Church on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 11:00, 758 – 8 St SE, with Pastor Shane Hein officiating. Interment will follow in the Family Plot at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery.
