GILLIES, Stephen “Steve”

GILLIES September 7, 1941 – October 9, 2025 STEPHEN “STEVE” ARTHUR GILLIES, of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Marilyn Gillies, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at Edith Cavell Care Centre on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at the age of 84 years, after a lengthy battle with bone marrow cancer.
Mourning his loss is his loving wife Marilyn, daughter Tobi (Myles) Kasun and Frankie the cat; sister Cheryl (Bob) Crowe and their children, Shelly (Cal) Jacober (Carly and Dylan); Scott (Lana) Crowe and their children, Avery and Ashton; brother Frank’s children, Cameron and Vickie; brother-in-law Thomas Wheeler and his children, Kyle and Scot; and step-sister Sara Murray and her children, Murray and Sonja.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ken and Marie and brother, Frank Gillies.
Steve was a vibrant, busy guy; he loved his family, friends and fun. He loved golfing at the Lethbridge Country Club with all his buddies, the Toronto Blue Jays, Edmonton Oilers and excelled in sporting endeavours from his past including curling, snow skiing and baseball.
Steve had a very strong faith and became a member of McKillop United Church when his family moved to Lethbridge in 1956.
During his working years, he was employed at Canbra Foods for forty years (now James Richardson and Sons), a lab technician, and later, as a bulk oil manager.
Volunteering was important to Steve; for over ten years, he gave countless hours to the Interfaith Food Bank, and Lethbridge Soup Kitchen for McKillop Church, to name a few.
A Celebration of life will be held at MCKILLOP UNITED CHURCH, 2329 – 15 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 1:00 P.M.

    Steve was Jack’s curling buddy, golf buddy and friend to both of us . His smile will live with us forever.
