Posted: November 22nd, 2025 VICTOR ANGUS WICKSTROM
Victor Angus Wickstrom of Medicine Hat, Alberta, formerly of Tompkins, Saskatchewan, beloved husband of Donna Kay Wickstrom, passed away suddenly on November 18, 2025, at the age of 78 years.
Victor will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Donna, and their daughters: Angie Heffley, married to Marlin Heffley, and their children Joel, Lane, and McKenzie DeMars; Melanie Friesen, married to Brent Friesen, and their sons Tristan and Riley Friesen; and Lana Wickstrom, married to Drew Pearson, and their children Willow, Ayla, and Reid Pearson.
Victor was born on March 3, 1947, in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan, the fourth of six children born to Ernest and Hazel Wickstrom. He attended Tompkins School and Gull Lake High School, later studying Vocational Agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan.
Vic and Donna were married on October 24, 1970, in Ottawa, Ontario. Together, they farmed the family homestead six miles south of Tompkins, where they raised their three daughters.
Vic loved all aspects of agriculture, especially grain farming and tending to his black Angus herd on the land near the bench hills he treasured. Over time, he refined his strengths and expertise, developing a manufacturing business focused on innovative seeding products.
A proud athlete in his younger years, Vic fondly remembered his high school days playing football, hockey, and curling. He carried that same drive into his career, eventually pouring his energy into innovation of new agricultural products. Vic fostered his entrepreneurial spirit, proudly owning and operating VW Manufacturing Ltd. right up until fix final day.
Vic contributed to his community through his involvement with the Tompkins Lions Club with his proudest accomplishment being involved in the building of the Tompkins Community Centre. Vic had a gift for entertaining: story sharing, joke telling, speaking in accents and subtly offering witty observations that kept those around him in stitches.
Vic possessed an exceptional memory for genealogies and community history, recalling family lines, stories, and details long forgotten by others. His deep well of knowledge about the people and places around him was broadly admired and appreciated.
Vic was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Hazel Wickstrom; his brother, Glen Wickstrom; sister-in-law, Audrey Wickstrom; and nephews, Fred Robinson and Stephen Hills. He is survived, loved, and deeply missed by his wife of 55 years, Donna; his daughters, Angie, Melanie, and Lana and their families; his sisters, Janet Wickstrom and Barbara Wickstrom; his brother, Allan (Ailsa) Wickstrom; his sister, Lynette (Del) Collier; sister-in-law Joan (Bob) Hills; and brother-in-law Bruce (Sue) Evans.
