MERVIN WAGNER

MERVIN WAGNER 1949 – 2025 The Holy Spirit is the wind under our wings and the spring in our step. Mervin Philip Wagner left us suddenly, on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 76 years of age. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Joyce; his daughters, Sherry (Kelly) Gauthier and Kristie; his grandson, Joshua (Jessica) Gauthier; and great grandson, Harrison; and granddaughter, Madison Gauthier.
Merv is also survived by his sister, Arlene Skow; brother, Glen (Gloria) Wagner; brother-in-law, Ken (Prudence) Chambers; sister-in-law, Marion Erikson, and Audrey (Brian) Silver; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents; Joyce’s parents; and his brother-in-law and close friend, Ray Skow.
“Uncle Merc” was always a favorite with so many nieces and nephews.
Mervin began working at Safeway in Medicine Hat at the age of 14. He remained a productive and loyal employee for 60 years, retiring in 2024.
The Wagners and Skows were summer campers/travelers for the first 25 years… lots of scenic spots and adventures making precious memories.
Mervin and Joyce continued to destinations in Mexico, doing yearly trips to Mazatlán for the next 20 years. He loved the sunshine, reading a book with a cerveza in hand.
Mervin was an avid sports fan; baseball was his favorite game and attended many of the local games, also loved watching hockey and going to the Medicine Hat Tigers, and he also loved to golf.
His main hobby was maintaining his yard, his love for flowers. His beautiful oasis for reading and suntanning in the summer. Both Merv and Joyce enjoyed setting up beautiful yard displays for Halloween and Christmas for everyone to enjoy.
Life will be feeling empty without our beloved Mervin. However, his memory will live on in our “treasure chest” of memories….Forever.
A private celebration of Merv’s life is planned for the spring of 2026.
