BARRIE MYERS August 3, 1937 ~ January 1, 2026
It is with a broken heart that Marlene announces the passing of her beloved husband, Barrie Maynard Myers. He passed away at River Ridge Seniors Village in Medicine Hat on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at the age of 88 years. Along with Marlene, left to cherish Barrie’s memory are his children: son, Kevin (Shelly) and their family, Brenden (Sasha) (Bella and Scarlett), Kerry (Brendan) (Shea and Quinn); daughter, Kim (Chuck) Getz and their family, Dustin (Emma) (Rylee and Rheya) and Kaylee (Luke); siblings, Kenneth (Monique) and Bernice (Duke); Marlene’s siblings, Wayne (Dianne) Wareham and Bev (Wayne) Stanley as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Barrie was born and raised in Wawota, Saskatchewan, a place he always called home. A welder by trade, Barrie dedicated many years of his working life to Saskatchewan Minerals, where he was known for his strong work ethic, skill and reliability. Following his retirement, Barrie embraced a slower pace of life and found great enjoyment in woodworking and golf. Whether creating something with his hands or spending time on the course, he took pride in doing things well and savoured the simple pleasures of each day. He leaves behind many memories that will be cherished by those who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Barrie’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Murray Jaster officiating.
