Born on June 14, 1927, in Riverhurst, Saskatchewan to William (Bill) and Charlotte (nee Hamilton) Cocks. She was 98 years, 7 months and 20 days old, expressing the desire at her 98th birthday to live to at least 100. In 1945, she went to the University of Alberta in Edmonton and 3 years later, graduated with her B.A. Gladys had a long and honourable career in the civil service (including the Privy Council), in Ottawa, where she lived most of her adult life. Gladys was an accomplished pianist and enjoyed playing the piano right to the end of her life. She had a great affection for cats of all sizes, genders and colours. While living in Ottawa she was a Rough Riders (later the RedBlacks) season ticket holder and enjoyed attending concerts at the National Arts Centre.
Gladys was predeceased by her parents, her 4 brothers and their wives: Bob (Nell), Frank (Olive), Jack (Marjorie) and George (Margie) and 1 nephew, Allan.
