Posted: February 13th, 2026 PEARD, John “Jack” Leonard December 15, 1929 – February 6, 2026 Jack Peard, beloved husband of the late Thurza Peard (nee Crosthwaite), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the age of 96 years. Jack was born in Taber, AB, on December 15, 1929.
He graduated from high school in Taber, and his early work experiences were in the hardware and automotive industries. In 1957, he joined Rogers Sugar in Taber and held various positions in Lethbridge and Vancouver, BC, where he retired in 1990. He was a lifelong learner and enjoyed furthering his education, taking many courses at the universities and colleges wherever he lived.
Jack married Thurza Crosthwaite in 1953. Their social life revolved around friends from childhood, work colleagues, neighbours, and the various golf clubs he joined in the cities they lived in. While they loved working and living in Lethbridge and Vancouver Jack’s heart was always in Taber. After retiring, they moved back to Taber in 1990.
His passion was playing golf, but he was also an avid fan of most professional sports and enjoyed following his favourite teams on TV. Jack and Thurza loved to travel and had memorable cruises and several vacations in Hawaii and Australia. After retirement, they enjoyed spending winters in Arizona.
Jack is survived by his son Don and daughter-in-law Patricia, who reside in Calgary. He is also survived by his grandson David (Colleen) and their sons, Easton and George of Calgary; grandson Steven (Helena) and their daughters, Evelyn, Beatrice, and Margaret, also of Calgary; and Jack’s third grandson Andrew (Danica) residing in Edmonton, AB.
He was predeceased by his daughter Donna in 1976, his wife Thurza in 2015, and great-granddaughter Lydia in 2020. He was also predeceased by his parents, William and Caroline; brothers, Harry, Raymond, and Ernie; and sister Helma.
