PHYLLIS ELIZABETH KIEMELE February 24, 1927 – February 8, 2026 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Phyllis Elizabeth Kiemele, in her 99th year, on February 8, 2026, at the Peaks to Pines Senior Lodge in Coleman, AB.
Phyllis was born in Vancouver, BC on February 24, 1927, and spent most of her life in Lethbridge, AB. She met her husband Melvin Kiemele at a square dance, a popular event in those days. They eloped on July 21, 1958, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Phyllis was a wonderful mother, a devoted wife and daughter, a loving grandmother, and a dedicated friend. She was also an exceptional baker, cook, seamstress, and hair stylist. She loved action movies, old westerns, and mystery stories. She loved animals but was especially crazy about cats.
She and Mel were fortunate to enjoy retirement together before his passing in 2002.
Phyllis leaves behind her loving daughters Sandra Kiemele (David Lowrey) and Joanne Wilson, as well as her beloved grandchildren Christopher Lowrey, Robert Lowrey, Michael Lowrey, and Jessie Wilson.
She was predeceased by her husband Mel; her parents Elsie and Jack Duncan; her brother and sister-in-law Jack and Beth; and her half-brother Bill.
Phyllis’ family would like to extend their thanks to Lethbridge and Area Home Care Services for the care that Mom received while in Lethbridge and Pincher Creek, as well as to Crowsnest Pass Home Care Services. Your support was outstanding and truly appreciated.
A huge thank you to the caregivers and staff at York Creek Lodge and Peaks to Pines Senior Lodge in the Crowsnest Pass who have taken such exceptional care of Mom over the last few years, as well as the staff at Coleman Remedy’sRx. We are more grateful for your kindness and care than you could know.
A private service will be held. Memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by the Lethbridge and District Humane Society (2920 16 Ave N., Lethbridge, AB T1H 5E9).
