EVELYN MESTON 1938 – 2026
Evelyn Meston passed away peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of family and the memories of a life well lived. Born October 25, 1938, in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, to Clarice and Louis McFaul, Evelyn was raised in Piapot alongside her four sisters, Laura, Fern, Dorothy, and Lillian and her two brothers, Wallace and Lloyd and lastly her brother, Gordon who sadly passed at birth. Those early prairie years shaped her steady spirit and deep appreciation for family. She later settled in Medicine Hat, where she built a life rooted in love, friendship, and simple joys. In 1956, Evelyn married Don Meston. Together they shared 33 years of marriage, raising their two daughters, Brenda and Vicki, and creating a home filled with warmth and care. Though Don passed before her, the bond they shared remained a cherished part of her story. Evelyn devoted much of her working life to AGT, a place she held close to her heart. It was there she built meaningful friendships and gathered many stories she would fondly recall over the years. She found happiness in life’s little pleasures – travelling with her sisters to Hawaii and Alaska, golfing with her girlfriends, weekend bingo, and when possible, enjoying the bright lights of Las Vegas. Yet nothing brought her more joy than her four grandchildren, Michael, Krystin, Lisa, Michele and step-granddaughter, Ashleigh. She treasured every moment with them – whether making root beer floats, trips to the toy store, sharing Sunday afternoon movies, or simply spending time together. Her love was steady, generous, and unconditional. Her love extended to her four great-grandchildren, Eva, Sayde, Sidney and Charlie, who were a special source of pride and happiness in her later years. Evelyn valued companionship, loyal friendships, and a life centered on family. She will be missed more than words can express. Those who loved her take comfort in believing she is reunited with Don and the many family members and friends who went before her. Forever loved as Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Sister, Auntie and Dear Friend. Until we meet again, may you rest in peace. A private graveside service will take place at the Hillside Cemetery.
