ALLAN HEIDINGER
Posted: April 24th, 2026 1960 ~ ALLAN HEIDINGER ~ 2026 It is with great sadness we share the passing of Allan “Al” Heidinger. Al was born and raised in Medicine Hat. He enjoyed fishing and camping with friends and family, as well as deep sea fishing off the coast of British Columbia. Al was an avid model railway enthusiast and created a sprawling layout in his basement. You could always find him cheering on the Medicine Hat Tigers each season. Al spent his career working as a heavy-duty mechanic and operator in Southern Alberta. He was the definition of a “handyman” who was always fixing or making something for the people he loved. Al will be remembered with great love by his wife, Karen; his son, Matthew; and his daughter, Samantha (Calder Fertig). He is also survived by his brother, Darry (Sharon); his sister in-law, Cheryl Lees; and numerous nieces and nephews. Al was predeceased by his parents, Rueben and Rose Heidinger; in-laws, David and Ellen Rogers; and his brothers in-law, Lee Rogers and John Lees. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and support staff at the Margery E Yuill Cancer Centre, as well as the palliative and home care staff and first responders who aided him through his illness. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Margery E Yuill Cancer Centre, Alberta Cancer Foundation, 710, 10123-99 Street, Edmonton, AB T5J 3H1, 1-866-412-4222, albertacancer.ca/in-memory, or a cause that is close to your heart.
