ED SUTOR May 1, 1948 ~ May 8, 2026
With great sadness, the family of Ed Sutor announce his passing at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the age of 78 years.
Ed is lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Lynda (nee Delwo); son, Darren (Niki) and their daughter Kaylee; daughter, Tracy (Kevin) and their son Keaton; brother, Pete as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Emilia and John Sutor and his two brothers, Stan and Joe.
Ed was born in Germany in 1948, immigrated to Canada with his family in 1951, and settled in Thunder Bay where he attended school and graduated. In 1968, he moved to Thompson and began his 30 year career working for Inco in the Refinery.
In 1970, Ed met the love of his life, Lynda, and they were married in 1972. Together they built a life centered around hard work, family and friendship. They welcomed their son Darren in 1976, followed by their daughter, Tracy, two years later.
Ed was an avid athlete throughout his life and enjoyed playing broomball, racquetball, hockey, fastball, bowling and golf. His competitive spirit took him to several bowling tournaments over the years and he was especially proud of accomplishing four holes-in-one throughout his golfing years.
In 2001, Ed and Lynda retired to Medicine Hat where they enjoyed the next chapter of their lives and the arrival of their two beloved grandchildren, Keaton and Kaylee, whom he was incredibly proud of. In retirement, he continued to spend many hours golfing and bowling with friends and family.
Ed was known for his strong work ethic and willingness to help others. Whether working in the Refinery, bartending at the Mystery Lake Hotel in Thompson or volunteering his time with the UCT in Medicine Hat, he was always ready to lend a hand. Ed also cherished family summer vacations and especially enjoyed his father-son trips to watch NASCAR races.
Ed will be remembered for his dedication, sense of humour and the love he had for his family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
