KAREN ROBERTS 1958 ~ 2026 Karen Roberts was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, the daughter of Gordon and Jean Leno. She was the middle sister between oldest sister Joanne and youngest sister Teresa. From a young age, Karen had a spark for life – bird hunting with her dad, playing cards with her mom, and joining in neighbourhood board game nights. After the early loss of her father, Karen and Jean became inseparable best friends, sharing a bond that remained deeply special throughout their lives.
As a young woman, Karen took a job at Action Appliance, where she met the love of her life, Richard. The two married in 1986 and honeymooned in Maui, where they spent their days watching the “Roberts parade,” soaking up too much sun, and where Karen was relentlessly persuaded by other honeymooners to weave a hat on the beach.
In 1989, Karen and Richard welcomed their only child, Stephanie, shortly after purchasing their forever home in Lethbridge. Karen loved taking Stephanie to ballet and skating lessons and could often be laughing from the window, tea towel in hand, while Steph and her friends put on homemade “music videos.”
Karen cherished travelling with her family, making memories in Las Vegas, Great Falls, and Halifax; camping trips to the mountains; and vacations in Mexico, where she quickly became a favourite among the staff wherever she stayed.
Although Karen’s zest for life was extinguished far too soon, while it was here, it shone brightly. Her witty sense of humour, loving spirit, and unforgettable laugh will be deeply missed by all who knew her – especially her family and her beloved orange kitty, Cheese.
