CHRUMKA Agnes

Agnes Carmichael Chrumka (nee MacKenzie), dearly beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully, after a short illness, with her family at her side on August 24, 2012. Agnes was predeceased by her parents Catherine and Ewen MacKenzie and her three brothers Alistair, Gordon and Ewen.
Agnes leaves behind her loving husband, Joseph, of 59 years, their children, Kathy (John) Fleury, Karol (Gary) Heselton, Allan, Gordon (Jane) and Tricia, grandchildren, Koral, Shane, Graeme, Jason and Andrew, sisters, Sandra (Barry) Kinniburgh and Kay (George) Becker, sister-in-law Bernice MacKenzie and numerous nieces and nephews, plus extended family in Scotland.
Born in Taber, Alberta as the oldest of six children, Agnes spent her early years running around the foothills of southern Alberta on the family sheep ranch. She graduated from the Medicine Hat School of Nursing where she completed her RN training before beginning her nursing career in various hospitals. She returned to Taber where she met and married Joseph and began raising her family before moving to Tsawwassen (Delta), BC in 1968.
Agnes was a long-time parishioner at Sacred Heart Parish in Ladner where she became involved with many church groups and activities, and where she met many of her lifelong friends. She was also honored to become a Lifetime Member of the Delta Hospital Auxiliary Society, as well as volunteering at the Diabetic Clinic and the Pillow Pal program. She was someone who could always be called on to help.
Agnes devoted her life to her family, church and community. She had an open door policy in her home, providing warm hospitality to unexpected guests, whether to set another plate at the table or a place to stay.
Agnes will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
