Posted: August 28th, 2012Willem “Bill” Van Driesten of Fort Macleod, beloved husband of the late Wilma Van Driesten passed away suddenly on August 23, 2012 at the age of 76.
Bill was born April 8, 1936 in The Netherlands, in Ede. He arrived in Canada with his parents and brothers Joe and Maas in 1948 where they settled in Southern Alberta and finally Fort Macleod as their permanent home. Bill supported his family by farming, water well drilling and driving truck. Bills passions were his family, the love of music, western movies, and holidays in Whitefish. Bill was predeceased by his wife Wilma, by his infant daughter Ledona: brother Maas and parents Martin and Elizabeth Van Driesten. He is survived by his daughter Marlene and her children; Kayla, Tyler, Brandon and Tiegan, Sons Budd (Jodie) and their children: Chris (Jenn), Steve, Ashley, and Dan; Dave (Therecia) and their children: Cody and Carlin; Bruce (Janene) and their children: Brayden and Avery; Reed (Mona) and their son Kurtis; Mark (Natasha) and their children: Jayce and Payton. As well as his brother Joe (Corrie) Van Driesten and countless nieces, nephews and their families. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at the Fort Macleod Alliance Church, 1716 7A Ave, Fort Macleod, AB., with Pastor Ralph Light and Al Waters officiating. Bill will be laid to rest with his family and friends by his side.
