LENIUK Laurie
Posted: November 20th, 2012LAURIE JEAN LENIUK, fought the brave battle of cancer. She succumbed in her sleep on Thursday, November 15th, 2012 at the age of 53 years.
Laurie was predeceased by her mother, Hilda (nee Schnurr), father, Alvin Kobitz, two brothers, Barry Kobitz and Doug Kobitz; grandfather Fred Kobitz and grandmother Dorothy Kobitz as well as grandma and grandpa Schnurr.
She is survived by her husband Peter of Lethbridge (married March 12, 1977), son Chad (Stephany) of Lethbridge; daughter Crystal (Kevin) Lee of Lethbridge; two grandchildren, Sierra and Dominik; one brother, Robert (Patricia) Kubitz of Saskatoon; one sister, Marilyn (Charles) Simpson of Regina; uncle and aunt Ernie & Elva Kostersky, sister-in-law Gail Kobitz. She is also survived by her special friends, Wayne & Judy Martin.
Laurie spent 25 years in Early Childhood Education, including 12 years with children affected by Down’s Syndrome, and the last 8 years as a Speech Pathologist. She especially loved spending time with family, friends and her loving little puppy Abby. She loved to travel and enjoyed her most recent trip to Mexico and the Dominican Republic. Her quiet courage, strength of spirit, creativity and sense of humor will be carried forward by those who knew and loved her.
The funeral service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 – Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 1:00 P.M., with Deacon Frank Peta officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, then a reception at the funeral home. In memory of Laurie, contributions may be made to the St. Michael’s Foundation, Palliative Care Unit, 1400 – 9th Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 4V5.

To Laurie Kobitz when I knew her;I always wondered where she was and doing.I heard or knew she married Peter Leniuk just didn’t know when. My heart is sadden to find out she had cancer and passed away at a young age. I will really miss her, she one of my favorite Kobitz, we had fun on that farm yard near Yorkton.Well, Laurie I know I was not there for you maybe when I could have been, please try to forgive; also I want to know your a great pal even though we didn’t say much between each other over the years,you where always in my thoughts. Laurie RIP.
