Passed away suddenly at the age of 56, David Joseph Hamilton, beloved husband and soul mate of Kathy, father to Wyler and Tessa (Jeremy), and brother to Don (Celia). He will be sadly missed by his nieces Cassandra Thomas, Stephanie (Glenn) Ring, Chelsea Collett, and Cassandra Collett; his nephews Adam Hamilton, Brian Schulz, Tom Schulz, and Damian Hamilton; his sisters-in-law Celia Hamilton, Sue Schulz, Judy Collett, and Wendy (Trevor) Thompson; his brother-in-law Dave Kerr; and his mother- in- law, Anne Kerr.
Dave was predeceased by his father, Ian, his mother, Lynette, and his nephew, Darrell Thomas.
Dave was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, June 20, 1956, and lived in Lethbridge, Calgary, Penticton, and Oliver. He began his career at the Lethbridge Herald and eventually transferred to the Penticton Herald. After Dave left the Herald, he started his own business, BC Battery Power.
Dave’s lifelong interests included military history, art, music, hiking and soccer. He volunteered for Penticton Minor Hockey and the South Okanagan Youth Soccer Association as coach, manager, and coordinator. In recent years, he took a keen interest in travel, and his family was lucky to have been able to enjoy with him trips to England, Scotland, France, Italy, Mexico, and Cuba. But he most enjoyed spending time in the woods, mountains, and trails around his home.
Dave will be remembered for his gregarious nature, sense of humour, kindness, and his unique outlook on life and the universe. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and his many close friends. A celebration of life will be held at Fairview Mountain Golf Course in Oliver BC on Friday, February 22 at 3:00 p.m. Condolences and tributes may be directed to the family by visiting www.nunes-pottinger.com
