DEROCHIE Franklin
Posted: March 1st, 2013Franklin Merle Derochie, 61, passed away suddenly at his lake property on the evening of February 21 2013.
He was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in April 1951, to Merle and Lorraine. Frank graduated from high school in Calgary and continued on his education at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, completing the chef’s programme. Frank worked with his father for a few years before establishing his own successful painting company that was founded in Coaldale, AB. In his leisure he loved spending time at the lake, surrounded by family and friends, on the water and in the woods. He loved to be out on the boat and cooking for the company he took pleasure in entertaining. The family takes comfort knowing that Frank passed away in his favorite place in the world. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy, children Robert Derochie, Genna and Dane Wilson, grandchildren Aisley and Corbin Derochie, siblings Randy (Kim) Derochie , Laurie Stewart Lacassio, Deb (Glen) McKinnon, Michelle (Jordy) Selk, Michael (Corinne) Derochie and Gord (Nina) Stewart; numerous nieces and nephews and several extended family members. He is preceded by his son Billy Derochie, who passed in 1992, mother Lorraine, in 2007, and nephew James in 1992. Many thanks for the care and compassion given by the Coram – West Glacier Volunteer Fire Department and Three Rivers Ambulance services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Billy Derochie Memorial Scholarship care of Kate Andrews High School, 2112 21 Street, Coaldale, Alberta, T1M 1L9. A celebration of Frank’s life will be held on Thursday, February 28, at 2 PM, at the Sandman Hotel, located at 421 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge.
I had just heard of Frank’s passing. I had worked for him a few times in the Medicine hat region. he was a very nice person. My deepest sypathy for Frank’s family and friends.
