FATH Ruby
Posted: March 16th, 2013Ruth Ruby Fath passed away on February 28, 2013 at the age of 92. Ruth was a strong self-sufficient woman and tried to maintain her independence to the end.
Ruth was born on March 6, 1920 in Armada, Alberta to Wendell and Mary Hanna. Her formative years were spent in the Armada/Lomond area. Ruth began her teaching career in 1943 and continued to do this until 1963.
Ruth married Cliff Fath on April 21, 1957. Soon after marriage they purchased a forty acre parcel of land in Vulcan on which they continued to live throughout their lives. Ruth held several accounting jobs and also operated the Eatons Catalogue Order Office in Vulcan.
One of the highlights of Ruth1s life was a trip to Nova Scotia in 1976 to discover her roots. This sparked an interest in genealogy, which she maintained throughout her later years. Ruth once stated her interests as 3her church, serving on the Executive of the Alberta Genealogical Society, doing our family histories, cemetery readings, local history, raising exotic birds and animals.2 In her later years Ruth devoted her time to assisting others in need.
The last three years of Ruth1s life were spent at Vulcan Extendicare. We are grateful to the staff for their compassionate care.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents, husband Cliff, and brothers Hugh (3Squint2) (Vivian) Hanna, and Roy Hanna. Ruth is survived by her youngest brother Max (Betty) Hanna, Tillie Fath (Staples), Marie Fath (Ferguson), Jean Fath, and Georgina Fath, and numerous nieces and nephews.
