FAIR Marlene
Posted: March 21st, 2013It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of a dear niece, mother, and cousin, MARLENE QUEENIE “Isstoitapiaakii” – Inuit Woman, on March 10th, 2013 at the tender age of 36 years, surrounded by children and family members at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital.
Marlene is survived by the children she loved-son Travis and daughter Sarah Fair of Lethbridge; uncles Randy (Jaylene) Riding At The Door, Stan (Rose) Hairy Bull, and Robert (Rita) Calf; aunties Rose (Ritchie) Chief Calf and Clara Sun Walk of Siksika Nation; great uncle James Calf of Siksika Nation.
Marlene was predeceased by her parents Alberta (Mary) Riding At The Door and Gary Sun Walk of Siksika Nation; maternal grandparents Leo & Queenie Hairy Bull; paternal grandparents Henry and Clara Sun Walk; uncles Keith (Esther) Riding At The Door, Alvin Calf, Robert and Leo Sun Walk; aunties Dorothy, Pauline, Ruby and Ramona Sun Walk, Sharon Riding At The Door and Joanne Hairy Bull.
Marlene received her early education at the old Levern Day School, St. Mary’s High School, Glenwood School, and Victory School in Lethbridge. She played softball with her Auntie Rose, relatives, and friends on the King ‘s Electric City Chiefs and Kainai City Chiefs teams. When she lived in Lethbridge, she worked in various motels as a house keeper. and also helped uncles and aunties when it came to cleaning up. Marlene was the oldest grandchild of Leo & Queenie Hairy Bull and was very over protective of her younger cousins.
Marlene was a very loving person who enjoyed being around her friends and family. She was loved by all she came in contact with. She loved to laugh and play practical jokes and pranks on her relatives and friends. Marlene will be missed by all, especially her special friend, John J. Healy.
The Wake Service will be held at the Levern Community Hall , Blood Reserve on Wednesday, March 20th from 7:00 p.m. until Midnight. The Funeral Service will be held at the Senator Gladstone Hall on Thursday, March 21th at 11:00 a.m. Interment in the Pioneer Cemetery.
