SMOLNICKY Julia
Posted: April 27th, 2013MRS. JULIA SMOLNICKY, beloved wife of the late Mr. Les Smolnicky, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, April 19, 2013 at the age of 81 years.
Julia is survived by daughters Rita Wiersema (Stan), Elizabeth Davis (Brett); grandchildren Chris Wiersema (Susan), Bridgette Wiersema (Wade), Shane Wiersema (Jennifer), Tristan Davis (Krista), Amanda Kennedy (Andrew); great grandchildren Briawna, Latisha, Travis, Dalton, Brier, Byron, Megan, Taylor, Everett, Teagan. She is also survived by two sisters Priscilla Brady of BC and Mary Vujicic of Lethbridge.
Julia was predeceased by her husband Les in 2008, her son Les Jr. In 2012, her parents, brothers Karl Baranyi (Wendy), Les Baranyi and her sister Rose Nagy.
Julia was born September 25, 1931 in Welling, AB. Her family moved to Coalhurst where she went to school and spent her younger years on the farm.
Julia was a member of OORP for 50 years and the C.W.L. She also did volunteering at Winners Bingo & the Red Cross for over 40 years.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Dialysis Unit, GCR Bridges, St. Michael’s Health Centre, West Highlands, Chinook Regional Hospital and Home Care.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Prayer Service at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 7:00 P.M. with Cybele and Francis Noronha officiating.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405-12TH Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Kevin Tumback, Celebrant. Interment to be held at the Mountain View Cemetery on Monday, April 29th at 9:00 A.M.
In memory of Julia, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, #204, 2323 – 32 Avenue NE, Calgary, AB, T2E 6Z3.
