Age – 86 years
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Best Friend, RITA FRANK.
Mom was born on the Siksika Nation and was the youngest of nine children. She attended residential school on the reserve and enjoyed many family activities, She especially enjoyed recalling her travels to the Calgary Stampede in her youth and the many characters she met and the fun she had there.
Dad was lucky enough to meet Mom 63 years ago and began a family. Mom and Dad raised their daughter and sons to be respectful to all and especially to each other. Family was of the utmost importance to them. Mom enjoyed all her Grandchildren, Great grandchildren and Great Great grandchildren.
Mom was loving, humble and a devoted wife. She always gave from her heart. Many family gatherings were celebrated at her home where she loved to cook for everyone. Her traditional knowledge will be missed. Mom and Dad enjoyed vacationing to Las Vegas, Mexico and Oregon. She loved playing bingo with Wilton and daughter Charlene and many trips were made to Lethbridge in hopes of hitting the Big One!
Mom was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Wilton, sons Gary, James and Russell, her brothers Mark Springchief, Phil Running Rabbit, Rosario Duckchief, Jack Running Rabbit, Joe Running Rabbit, Mike Running Rabbit, Louie Running Rabbit and special sister Rosa Doore and parents Horton and Ada Running Rabbit.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons Randy (Anna) Frank, Harley (Lois) Frank, Kelly (Sharon) Frank, Phil (Sheila) Frank, Vern (Stephanie) Frank, Brian (Mary Pat) Frank, Colin Frank, Bob (Traci) Frank and her daughter Charlene (Ed) Fox. Her special adopted daughters Donna McCall, Doreen Scown and Marlene Flammond.
Her grandchildren; Mike, Kenny, Karly, James, Leanne, Chrissy, Carmen, Dwayne (Rusty), Bernis, Danny, Kevin, Terril, Joel, Trent, Allison, Denny, Miles, Dane, Jamie, Steven, Jeremy, Jim, Nancy, Myron, Les, Vern Jr., Kayla, Jay, Terrence, Dusty, Shelby, Renita, Colinda, Megan, Derek, Dylan and Tahnee, and numerous Great Grandchildren.
Also her family from Siksika and all her extended family from Tsuu Tina and Piikunni First Nations.
The Family Service will be held at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston on Friday, May 3rd, 2013 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
The Wake Service will be held at the Cardston Senior’s Center (260 1st Street West), Cardston on Friday, May 3rd, 2013 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
The Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Blood Reserve on Saturday, May 4th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in the Blood Band Cemetery, Blood Reserve.

It was sad to hear this great woman had passed on. My heart goes out to all the family and friends she has left behind. I had the utmost respect for this lady and am thankful to have know her in my life if even for a short time.
