HARKER Elizabeth
Posted: May 15th, 2013ELIZABETH (BETTY) HARKER, beloved wife of Dean Harker, passed away peacefully, Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the age of 80 years.
Besides her loving husband of 62 years, she is survived by her three children: James (Bonnie) and their three boys: Ryan (Rebecca), Nathan (Ashley) and Jordan; Cheryl Hannan (Tom) and her four children: Blake (Kathy), Kelly (Becky), Miles and Ashley; and Darren Harker. She is also survived by ten great grandchildren.
Betty was predeceased by her parents, Mathew and Agnes Schneider and two sisters: Mary Sera and Agnes Hillmer.
Betty was born in Magrath February 13, 1933 to Mathew and Agnes Schneider. She attended public and high school in Magrath and worked in Sabey’s Store, Magrath Woollen Mill and the Alberta Canning Factory. In 1949 she began dating Dean Harker and the next spring and summer they were seen around town and touring Southern Alberta and Montana on Dean’s Harley Davidson. In June of 1950 they were engaged and were married October 24, 1950. In 1955 they moved to Lethbridge where Dean became an auto body mechanic. In 1997 they retired and spent many happy times holidaying and golfing with their friends in the United States, Mexico and Portugal.
Betty was a devoted housewife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, LETHBRIDGE STAKE CENTRE, 2410-28 Street South, Lethbridge on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.
Friends may meet the family prior to the service from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. at the church.
Interment to follow at the Magrath Cemetery.
Flowers are gratefully declined.
