Posted: May 18th, 2013Our Dad, Grandfather and Great Grandfather will be sadly missed.
Jerry Root of Lomond, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 9 at the Brooks Hospital. He leaves to mourn his daughter Doreen, son Larry, grandson Mathew (Jessie), granddaughter Kayla (Mackenzie) and great granddaughter Nyla. He also leaves to mourn numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and his special friend Isabelle. Jerry was born February 25, 1925 on the homestead in Lomond and he lived in the area until 2010 when he moved to Brooks. He was predeceased by his wife Emma of 49 years in 2003. A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held upstairs in the Lomond Community Hall on Saturday, June 1 at 1 PM. The family would like to thank all the nurses and doctors that cared for Dad. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alhzeimer Society of Alberta.
I understand that Lion Jerry is the last Charter member of the Lomond Lions Club. Obviously, he was a kind and caring man. I didn’t know him, but please know that his legacy of service with the Lions Clubs will be remembered. With sincere sympathy – Pauline Coopetr, Past District Governor.
