DAVIS Wilbert
Posted: May 31st, 2013It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of a dear brother, uncle, cousin and friend. WILBERT CHARLES DAVIS made his leave during the early morning hours of May 22, 2013 at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital surrounded by family and friends. Born in the Blood Indian Hospital on April 13thin 1938, the second child of Jane and Edward Davis, Wilbert just celebrated his 75th birthday a month ago.
Wilbert leaves to mourn his passing sisters Olive Davis, Vivian Allen, Thelma Brothen, and Karen Smith: brother Wesley (Jeanne) Davis; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, along with his acknowledged daughter Wanda Shouting and her children.
Wilbert was predeceased by his parents Jane and Edward Davis; paternal grandparents, Rosie and Charlie Davis; maternal grandparents, Mary, Tom and Cecille Russell; his sister Juanita and husband Evan Melting Tallow Sr. and most recently his brother Chester Davis.
Wilbert kept his illness to himself; never one to complain, expect sympathy or to worry family, he suffered in silence until he finally succumbed to a lengthy battle with COPD and cancer. Wilbert would not want his family, relatives and friends to feel sorry for him, instead he would want to be remembered as a man who loved life, who enjoyed building things, who loved his pets, who enjoyed making the world a lovely place to be with the beautiful flowers and trees he planted. Let the tall poplars surrounding his home be a testament to the type of man he was, tall and lanky, gentle and strong, swaying in the breeze with roots strong and deep beneath the ground.
Wilbert Davis, I’nak sspitaa, our beloved brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, we will remember the good times, those happy times, the laughs we shared with family, the nicknames you gave us; all the precious memories you have left us with as we celebrated different occasions we will treasure in our hearts always. You were a man of few words, but your love for us was felt by us all. You have gone on, but this is not goodbye, we will meet again.
A Family Service will be held on Friday, May 31st at the Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston followed by a Wake Service at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Blood Reserve from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church on Saturday, June 1st at 11:00 a.m. Interment in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
