MARY NELSON CHIPMAN passed away at the age of 86 on Monday, April 10, 2017 in Lethbridge. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

Mary was born in January 1931 in Cardston, the second child of Loran and Fanny Nelson of Glenwood. She married Richard W. Chipman(Dick) in 1950. They have a posterity of 3 children, 13 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

She leaves behind her daughter Kathy McKenna, son-in-law Mike Wilcox, and son and daughter-in-law Wade and Jackie Chipman. She is also survived by her sisters, Loraine Fisher and Shauna Humphreys and brothers, Robert Nelson and Vaughn Nelson.

Mary was predeceased by her parents, husband, sister Nola, daughter Laurie, son-in-law Warren, granddaughter Kimberly and great- granddaughter Amada.

Mary wrote poems for many, many occasions. If she had been writing this, it would have been in rhyme. She wrote poems for weddings, family gatherings, work parties, and lots of church and community activities. We count ourselves blessed to be the recipients of her poems.

We also were blessed to enjoy her wonderful meals, her “homey”, comfortable home, her love and devotion. And she shared this with everyone. We all loved her smile, her cute sense of humor and her dry wit.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She held many callings but probably her favorites were a chorister for primary, and Junior Sunday School and Ward chorister and choir director. She and Dad served a mission in the Denver, Colorado, North Mission.

The family would like to thank all doctors and nurses that took care of her. We would like to thank all those at Heart Function. We especially would like to thank all the nursing staff and doctors at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Unit for their loving care of Mary and us. They are truly angels.

We are so thankful for the loving concern of so many family members and friends (more angels).

The Funeral Service will be held at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, WEST STAKE, 560 Highlands Blvd W, Lethbridge, on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 11:00 am.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at Salmon and Sons Funeral Home, 433 Stubb Ross Road South, Lethbridge (entrance to the airport) on Friday, April 14, 2017 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm, or prior to the funeral service on Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 am at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to the St. Michael’s Palliative Care Unit, 1400 – 9th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 4V5.
