MRS. SANDRA ALVINA PAULS (KASNER) passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at St. Michael’s Health Centre, Lethbridge, Alberta on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the age of 65 years. Sandra was born on February 2, 1952 in Lethbridge, Alberta, to Edward and Inez Kasner (Williams). Sandra spent most of her life in Coaldale, with only a short time away while working in Cranbrook, B.C. Sandra was a self taught beautiful pianist, an accomplished cook, and seamstress. She delighted in sewing clothes, accessories and costumes for her children and grandchildren. She was a generous hostess making young and old feel at home with her delicious culinary creations – from ham bone soup to wonderful desserts. Sandra adored her children and grandchildren to whom she was known as “Grandma Prize”. Sandra was a happy, non-judgmental lady – always willing to lend a listening ear and to lift others up when they were feeling down. She was a loving sister to her siblings almost unwilling to share her diagnosis of cancer, because it would make them feel sad. She was courageous and brave. Sandra will be missed by her children Tammy (Marvin) Oudshoorn, Richard (Trisha) Pauls, her grandchildren Kody (Katie), Brandon (Petra), Tiana & Kyle Oudshoorn, her brother Calvin Kasner, sisters Joyce Kasner, Edith (Kusty) Block, Elaine Baerg, Eva (Charlie) Harris, Linda (Ed) Martens, brother-in-law Kenneth Pratt, brother Ron (Cindy) Kasner, and her many nieces and nephews. Sandra was predeceased by her parents, her sister Marilyn Pratt, a brother-in-law Arthur Baerg, a sister-in-law Marlene Kasner, and a nephew Chad Harris. The family would like to thank her caregivers and were aware of Sandra’s appreciation for them. Sandra was especially grateful for the kind care and skill with which Dr. Vincent Luykenaar attended her, even to the extent of making house calls. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2216 – 21 Avenue A, Coaldale, Alberta. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Sandra’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society, 200, 235 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB T2E 2P5.
