WALKER, Ralph
Posted: October 20th, 2017Ralph Harris Walker (93) of Raymond, Alberta passed away at home on October 15, 2017. He was predeceased by his wife Ruth (Kitchen) Walker and his wife Michele (Grignon) Walker, and his daughter Lee as well as his parents and all of his 11 brothers and sisters. Ralph and Ruth had seven children: Roger (Elin) – 9 children, Ramsay (Boots) – 8 children, Reagan (Kim) – 3 children, Lee Harder (deceased) (Jake) – 2 children, Ros-Lynn Osaka (Clifford – deceased) – 2 children, Barry (Julie) – 6 children, Tim (Jim). Ralph was born August 5, 1944 in Raymond to James H. Walker and Fannye (Mary Elizabeth Ann) Harris. He was the ninth of their 12 children. Ralph spent his childhood and early married years farming and ranching in the Raymond area before moving to Calgary in 1956 where he worked in mining and petroleum then the investment industry. Ten years later he moved to Winnipeg, and then Montreal and Toronto where he lived and worked for the next 45 years. He returned to Raymond in 1999. He loved athletics and actively played basketball until moving to Calgary. He loved to travel, read, and going “… up to the ridge”. He enjoyed good discussion of current events and politics. Most of all, he loved people. Ralph touched many lives. For most of his life Ralph was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. For the past several years he regularly attended the Cardston Alberta Temple. He was active and independent to the last day of his life and an integral part of the life of his family and friends. He will be sorely missed. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Raymond Stake Centre (2 N 200 W, Raymond, AB), with Bishop Noel Smith, officiating. Friends may meet with the family at the church from 7:00pm – 8:00 pm on Friday, October 20, 2017, or on Saturday from 10-10:45am prior to the service. Interment will take place in the Temple Hill Cemetery.

My sincere condolences to Ralph’s family.
I last spoke with Ralph at my own mother’s (Carrel Wolsey) funeral in May of 2017, and we had an interesting and great conversation about the earlier days when he knew my mother, when she was in school in Raymond (they were the same age), and then my father (John).
So sad to see the great generation leaving…
