It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of DONALD GAIL CARPENTER at the age of 79 years on June 7th, 2018 after a long battle with leukemia. Don left behind his wife Elinor of 54 years, daughter Stacey, son Scott, and three grand-daughters Ashton, Skye and Shyla.
Don joined the Lethbridge Fire Department on June 1st, 1964, advanced to Platoon Chief in 1997 and retired in February of 2000. Don loved being a firefighter and made lifelong friends with his fire department family. Don had many memories of his fire fighting years and had lots of tales and adventures that he was more than willing to share.
Don enjoyed retirement life and the special times with his grandchildren, friends (far too numerous to mention) and his beloved furry four pawed companions.
Special thanks to Dr. Benke, Dr. S. de Walle, Dr. D. Walsh, Dr. Ireland, the staff and nurses at the Jack Ady Cancer Centre, the nurses on 3B, Community Homecare and the St. Michael’s Palliative Care Team for their heartfelt care.
At Don’s request there will be no Funeral Service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Don’s name to the Jack Ady Cancer Centre – 960 19 St S, Lethbridge, AB T1J 1W5.
