Posted: July 6th, 20191928 – 2019
On Tuesday July 2, 2019, at the Chinook Regional Hospital, Louie Sosick passed away surrounded by his loving family at the age of 91.
Louie was born April 1, 1928, in Yugoslavia to parents, Joe and Julia. He grew up with four brothers – Pete, Bill, Morris and John. Louie immigrated to Canada in 1938 and settled in Picture Butte, Alberta. While working in the sugar beets, he found the love of his life, Johanna Gieske, and they were married in 1961. Louie worked on the oil rigs early on in his career and then, to be closer to the ones he loved, worked as a general contractor.
Louie had a way of always making one feel welcome. He was a straight shooter and told it like he saw it. He loved camping, fishing, golfing, gardening and gathering with family and friends.
Besides his loving wife, Louie will be fondly remembered by his children Jackie (Tony), Christine, Jim (Susan) and four grandchildren – Peter, Sarah, Angela and August.
Louie leaves to mourn his brother Morris (Joanne) Sosick, cousin Branko (Anica) Hrstic, sisters-in-law Agnes Sosick (Bill) & Joann Sosick (Pete), and many loving nieces and nephews.
Louie was predeceased by his parents Joe and Julia; brothers Pete, Bill and John. He was also predeceased by his beloved brother- and sister-in-law, Tony & Betty Gieske who, together with Johanna, immigrated to Canada.
A sincere thank you to all the staff at St. Michael’s Extended Care Center, Norbridge Pharmacy and Dr. Peter Koegler for the loving care you all gave to Louie.
