1932 – 2019
It is with sadness that the family of Henry Postman announces his peaceful passing into the arms of Jesus, the evening of September 14, 2019, at 87 years of age at St. Michael’s Health Care Centre. Henry was born in 1932 near Monarch, Alberta, to Gerrit and Joanne Postman. Their family lived in Lethbridge, Nobleford, and on the farmstead north of Monarch. In 1952, Henry married his sweetheart, Alice Kooy, in Abbotsford, BC, and they raised their family on the farm and also briefly resided in Three Hills and Creston. While in Three Hills, Henry attended Prairie Bible College earning a diploma in Religious Studies. Henry loved the farm, and although this was very important for Henry and Alice, they made time for fun and relaxation. Often the family went on camping trips to the mountains and the Okanagan Valley. They both played piano and sang together making beautiful harmony. Henry enjoyed many years faithfully playing piano and organ at church, directing choirs, and started a men’s quartet called “Noblefour”. His music and his sense of humor was a blessing to many through his lifetime. Faith in God was a central part of life for Henry. He taught the bible to his family around the table and was involved in bible study groups and in supporting the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association to help advance the gospel message he so loved. Henry struggled through many illnesses and hospitalizations while on dialysis over the past 5 years. He learned to persevere and put his trust in God. In the end, the simple words of scripture, prayers and song were an enduring hope and comfort to him. Henry was predeceased by his wife, Alice, and his parents, Gerrit and Joanne Postman, and brother Lewis Postman. He will be lovingly remembered by his sister and brother-in-law, Nettie and Ron Wilson, and sister-in-law, Jean Postman, and their families; his children, Donna, Gerald (Wanda), Dan (Lorna), Ken, Lynne (Ross), and Heather (Paul); his grandchildren, Leon, Ali, Spencer, Jon, David, Melanie, Karson, Kaycee, Amylia, Henry, Jennie, Niko, Bethany, Rebecca, Karen, Sharon, Grace, William, Heather Alice, Craig, Linden, Grayson, Pamela, and Jonathan; his great-grandchildren, Madison, Kaiden, and Dawson. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 7:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, September 20, 2019 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 STREET SOUTH, Lethbridge, Alberta. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, September 21, 2019 NOBLEFORD CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH, Nobleford Alberta, with Pastor Frank Lanting, officiating.
